Reason Roundup
Welcome to the Reason Roundup. Celebrating Independence Day, the beautiful Vietnamese, Icarus finished, teenagers, "Sex and the Single Guy", and more...***
Martin Lindeskog at EGO celebrated Independence Day with friends, links, and pro-American cartoons. Check it out.
*
Cox and Forkum celebrated the spirit of Independence Day...and also poked at those who oppose the war on terrorism.
*
Robert Tracy at Illustrated Ideas says:
Does it matter that for some genetic cause the Vietnamese happen, in my opinion, to be the most beautiful creatures on earth.
I would agree. The Chinese are up there also I would say.
*
Damon Denys at The Artist’s Studio at Quent Cordair Fine Art has finished "Icarus":
Well folks, that's pretty much how you paint Icarus, in 21 easy steps. Like baking a cake, really, only with far less call for shortening, eggs, or a small child to blow out candles.
"Easy" for him maybe. Take a look.
*
Dr. Hurd on raising teenagers:
The way to prevent a negative teenage experience is to teach your child how to think for himself and how to value good things in life before he or she becomes a teenager.
See his thoughts, he has more.
*
Blair at Secular Foxhole has a link to the following story:
Islam gaining a foothold in Chiapas...
Not good.
*
[Heads up: This is not work-safe. Save it for home.]
Dwayne Bell at Body In Mind takes a historical look at the attack on beauty and youth:
Both in the past, and today, these are the people who actually deliver their daughters to the executioners. How many times have you heard on the news that a young girl has been kidnapped, raped and murdered by someone who had committed such crimes before and had been released anyway?
You hear it all the time. Keith Larsen on WBT yesterday went through a list of sex offenders in Charlotte for whom there are outstanding arrest warrants.
*
David at Truth, Justice, and The American Way says:
Motorists face having their cars fitted with a spy device that stops speeding.
Do the modern-day Puritans have no end in sight? Of course, some will claim that this effort is for "safety". I don't believe it and neither do you. It is just sick control. Soon...a device a satellite operated device that shocks you if you are having too much fun.
*
Felipe at d'Anconia Online has a challenge and offering a reward for those who provide the correct answer. I think he should rename his challenge "Sex and the Single Guy."
*
Gus Van Horn on Chinese internet censorship:
It's kinda funny that so soon after China hired Microsoft to "embrace and extend" censorship of the Internet, that a major Chinese Internet "security firm" has been hacked!
Justice. I hope there is lots more of it. I also hope Microsoft and others back out of China so that the government can no longer use technology against the people there.
*
I asked:
If your neighbor's home is burglarized, is it not fair that you and your home receive the same treatment? If the car of a friend of yours is stolen, should not the thieves steal your car just to make sure that you now don't have some advantage over your friend?
Wouldn't that be "equality"? Read 'em and weep.
